Arcade Video Game Emulators

JAPE

Project:

JAPE (Just Another Project Emulator)
Emulator for Arcade Games (SilverLight/Java)
ACTIVE
JAPE
An emulator for arcade games. The old discontinued version (Java) was a direct port of the famous MAME emulator. All first versions of MAME up to 0.27 were successfully ported into Java with the same drivers, cpu cores and features (lacking sound though). The new version in the works (SilverLight) is written from scratch and focus on single optimized drivers, using MAME as a source of information.
Expect nice features such as bigger display, fullscreen mode, online highscores and the like...

PotatoArcade
Emulator for Arcade Games (Java)
ABANDONED
Potato Arcade (Seems down)
An emulator for arcade games while working with the PotatoEmu team. We managed to get Capcom CPS2 games to work online with fast graphics and cpu emulation.
Unfortunately, it is now discontinued...

CottAGE
Emulator for Arcade Games (Java)
ABANDONED
CottAGE (Seems down)
An open-source emulator for arcade games. Several people contributed to this project, including game drivers inspired from MAME.
It was quite successful for his time and many web sites are still offering free online arcade games powered by CottAGE.
For example: 1980-Games - Retrouprising
It is now discontinued...

Handheld Video Game Emulators

Project:
Type:

BoycottDS
Emulator for the Nintendo DS handheld
ABANDONED
BoycottDS
An emulator for the Nintendo DS in Java. It never saw the light... Complex hardware, 3D rendering that would require OpenGL, lack of time. Maybe in the future, I will try again with SilverLight...

BoycottAdvance
Emulator for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance handheld
ABANDONED
BoycottAdvance (Seems down)
An emulator for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance. One of the very first GBA emulator that run commercial games even though the handheld console was not available yet in the US or in Europe. A very very successful emulator (I received a lot of postcards with thanks), that was available on many platforms including Mac OS (the only one at the time thanks to Richard Bannister).
It featured very nice sound emulation, good speed and pretty good compatibility (recent games were suffering from glitches but most of the time, this was due to game developers fault).
Unfortunately, it is now discontinued...

NeoPocott
Emulator for the SNK NeoGeo Pocket & NeoGeo Pocket Color handheld
ABANDONED
NeoPocott (Seems down)
My second emulator after Boycott. I received help from several developers so it was pretty accurate and nice.
Unfortunately, it is now discontinued...

Boycott (Seems down)
My very fist emulator. Everyone must start with something...

WonderScott Online
Emulator for the Bandai WonderSwan handheld (Java)
ABANDONED
WonderScott Online (Seems down)
My very first emulator using Java. Do not expect much from this one (cpu emulation is inaccurate because of wrong cpu core) and this was my first Java attempt for an emulator.

Games & Game Engines Ports

Project:

QuakeLight
Port of the id Software Quake game (SilverLight)
ACTIVE
QuakeLight
A new project since I am now using SilverLight. After seeing a video from Flash 10 running Quake, I decided to attempt a port in SilverLight and see what is the potential of this new Microsoft technology.
I dunno yet what to expect from this port, just hoping it will run very nicely and be the start of a new era (bye bye Java, welcome SilverLight) for online games.
Project:

ScummCott
Adventure Games Engine port (Java)
ABANDONED
ScummCott
A Java port of a game engine recreation software, the famous ScummVM. My first attempt was a Java version of the game Beneath a Steel Sky. It runs nicely past the first game screens. Lack of time and sound to finish it but I could continue it someday or quickly port in SilverLight. Second attempt was for the Gobliins games serie. Lack of time and motivation. Once again, it may regain interest with SilverLight, who knows?
Project:
Type:

DoomCott
Port of the id Software Doom game (Java)
ABANDONED
DoomCott (Seems down)
A Java port of the very famous Doom game. Not much impressive work on this though it was a very time-consuming project. The menu was working as well as the level display map (you could rotate or zoom a 2D map actually). No work at all on the 3D part...
I expect more impressive results with QuakeLight and maybe will attempt again with this one.
Project:
Type:
Status:
Web site:
WolfCott 3-D
Port of the id Software Wolfenstein 3-D game (Java)
ABANDONED
WolfCott 3-D (Seems down)
A Java port of the first 3D game from id Software. Like DoomCott, not much to see except the menu. Lack of motivation and interest (also Doom was more interesting to work on).
